Mike Hendry is an independent consultant in payment systems and electronic commerce, with the emphasis on smart cards and transaction security. He has a degree in engineering from Cambridge and in business from IMI Geneva. He is multilingual and works with retailers, banks and service providers throughout Europe on technology and business strategy issues.
He has been closely involved with the implementation of chip-based credit, debit and purse cards in Europe and in Asia, working with bank and non-bank card issuers and major retailers on the specification of their business, operational and technical requirements and on the longer term opportunities afforded by the technology. From January 2002 to April 2005 he was Technical and Operations Director of the UK Chip & PIN Programme.
